The Honey Brothers, masters of Hawaiian-Appalachian Glam Rock, began as a barbershop singing trio and are now a full rock band which has been growing quickly in popularity over the past few months in NYC. Combining banjo, ukulele, electric guitar, and three-part harmonies, their infectious rock sound touches on popular music from the Cars, backwards to the Beach Boys, and further back into American folklore music of the 1920's.

The barbershop-singing vaudeville brothers (Hoyt, Dorian, and Dr. Carl Honey) started with a quiet residence at NYC's The Living Room cafe last summer. Their shows had a knack for putting jaded New Yorkers in a good mood; word quickly spread. By summer's end they had a loyal local fan base, and they were invited into the studio of actor, indie-rock engineer and musician Adrian Grenier (Reckless Productions, Brooklyn) to record. Songs were produced by Ari Gold and mixed by Eugene Toale.

Meanwhile, Adrian Grenier and his Kid Friendly band-mate Pierre Michel, both wearing mustaches, stepped in as THB's onstage rhythm section as the band moved to prime-time at local clubs such as Luxx and Arlene Grocery. Each show draws a bigger crowd, now standing-room-only, as the Brothers begin to take their sweet and volatile music to the masses. "Honey 4 U" EP will be released on Valentine's Day 2003 at Luxx.

The debut EP from The Honey Brothers contains some of their most requested songs from their live set, produced in beautiful hi-fidelity sound for your enjoyment.

Reviews

"This EP is unbelievable! Combining the zaniness of Ween with hooks worthy of Blue Album-era Weezer (the hilarious and unstoppable therapy pop — you’ll see — of “Some of Them Are Nice Days”), the Honey Brothers launch a ukulele-driven mish-mash of Hawaiian back woods, indie glam rock. “Little Boy” is earnest and odd, like 60s country meets the White Stripes jangle-y, down home Appalachian cousins. “Drunkard’s Lament” is actually an old-time traditional cautionary tale (think the Harry Smith Folk Anthologies). Finally, “Ze Last Drag” is like Beck doing Serge Gainsbourg — yes, amazing, and “Coney Island (I Am Yours)” is a curious Grandaddy-like pop number. Somebody sign these guys, we need a full-length."
